Lessons From A Snail
A Snail is an amazing creature – it carries its ‘home’ everywhere it goes. This makes it easy to retreat into it for a quick nap or when it senses any form of danger. It’s apparent that a Snail’s shell is its most preferred ‘companion‘; it helps it to adapt to changing weather conditions and gives it protection from predators and injuries.
It is perhaps noteworthy to add here that a desert snail is able to stay ‘sealed’ or cocooned in its shell for up to 2 or more years so as to survive the harsh weather conditions.
Little wonder then that a Hindu proverb says “The snail sees nothing but his own shell and thinks it the grandest place in the world.”
It would be a disaster if something untoward happens and the Snail’s shell is broken. Certainly, if a snail could do something to protect its home, nothing will make it fail or hesitate in that quest.
As superior beings that we humans are, we should endeavour to protect our homes against danger or mishaps that are beyond our control. Custodian Homeowners’ insurance is a multiple-line policy, as it covers such risks as fire, burglary, personal accident and liability insurance while a single premium is paid for all these risks.
Fire and burglary insurance protects the building and contents, Personal Accident insurance provides coverage for the insured while Liability coverage protects against your liability to other people. As a homeowner, you can also protect your home from the following:
- Wind, thunder, lightning, storm, flood
- Bursting and overflowing of geysers and water pipes
- Accidental damage
- Subsidence, heave and slip
The policy also provides cost of getting an alternative accommodation/loss of rental income for free in cases when your home is uninhabitable due to an insured event.
